General Information for Parents

We hope you will find the following information helpful.

New members
Normally a new member to the Group would come along to their appropriate section meeting for around five or six weeks prior to their being invested into that section. This gives them, their parents and us a chance to make sure they are going to continue to enjoy being in the Scout Movement. At the end of this period of time the new member will be invested which means they will need to have their uniform appropriate to the section and make their promise. Parents are more than welcome to attend their investiture.

Uniform
The section leader can help and advise about the uniform you will need to purchase.

Beaver Scouts : Beavers will need to have a plain uniform turquoise sweatshirt and school trousers and black or dark socks and shoes. Badges, scarf and woggle are all provided by the Group. Click here to see where the badges are worn.

Cub Scouts
: Cubs will need to have a plain green uniform sweatshirt, scout activity trousers, black or dark socks and shoes. The scarf, badges and woggle are provided to new members. Click here to see where the badges are worn.

Subscriptions Subscriptions are due at the beginning of September, January and after Easter - the beginning of the term around April. At present the subscriptions are £25 for a single period. If paying by cheque please make it out to 1st Collingbourne Air Scout Group and write on the back the name of the member(s) it refers to.

Moving Up When a member reaches the age when they need to move on to the next section there will be a period of around 4 weeks when they will "link" with the next section. Normally we would be flexible and encourage beavers or cubs to move on in at least pairs so that the transition is less daunting.
Beaver scouts can not move on until their 8th birthday.
Cubs normally move on at around 10.5 years.

Group Sweatshirts The Group holds a stock of polo shirts and sweatshirts which are royal blue with our yellow logo. These are for activity wear although during hot summer weather the polo shirts would be acceptable instead of the normal uniform top. Please ask a leader if you would like to buy one.

Badge Information All the information on the Challenges and Activity badges earned by the three sections can be found on www.scoutbase.org.uk and then click the appropriate section and click on badges and the list will appear.
